Reasons for trip

Our trip to Capri, was amazing! The island stood proudly out of the water, its sheer rock faces gleaming in the warm sun. We had taken the funicular up to Capri, and decided to then catch the local mini bus up to Anacapri. The hairpin bends wound their way upwards, we hung on tightly, but were so captivated with the views down through the immaculately kept gardens, vineyards, and of course the shimmering sea below it, was easy to suddenly be thrown to one side, as the bus ground to a halt as it met another bus going the other way! When we arrived at Anacapri, we saw the chairlift, which would take us to the highest point of Capri. It HAD to be done! We bought return tickets which cost 10 euros each, and made our way to the lift. I was glad I wasn't wearing my usual flip flops because I'm sure I would have lost one half way up, never to be retrieved again! The operator slowed the lift up for older people and children, to make it easier to get on. It was however easy, and before long, the bar had been put down, and my chair was hurtling upwards. Again the views were amazing. The first section was through more gardens and vegetable plots. You could see people tending their vineyards and their tomato plants, which all looked so healthy. As we got higher and higher the vegetation became more scrubby, as the terrain got steeper. After about twenty minutes we got to the top. It was such a treat. The views were staggering, completely taking your breath away. Far below were expensive boats sailing on the crystal clear sea. I could have stayed there all day! There was a seating area where you could order a cold drink and take in the richness of this stunning island. It was a wonderful way to enjoy Capri! A must do trip!
