The hotel Monte Mulini is a truly five star hotel. Excellent service with a warm welcome at reception and very willing to assist, a very nice bar with music some nights, spacious rooms with balconies with fabulous views and comfortable chairs to enjoy the lovely weather. The hotel is 'upside down' coming in at reception at the top floor with the rooms below on the side of the hill. Rooms on the upper floors provide wonderful views of the bay and the pool. The pool is large with a swim up bar, and smaller pools alongside, but in September was freezing cold, so few swimmers were tempted. If you stay here don't miss out on the free opportunity to book a trip on the hotel's 'yacht', which is in fact an old wooden sailing ship that takes you on a two hour trip to one of the islands, which it makes a short stop. There were only four on our trip and it was a real treat. We tried both of the restaurants at the hotel and the Wine Vault is definitely gourmet, and not over priced, however the other restaurant we didn't rate, and would not recommend half board at this hotel. The restaurants in the town were excellent and really good value so don't miss out on these. The walk from the hotel to the town, once you have left the hotel (down steps) it is flat. Bikes are available to borrow. A ten minute walk will bring you to the edge of town, but another good 10 – 15 minutes to get to the more interesting parts. A taxi ride back isn't expensive. We would recommend this hotel.
