We have been contemplating having a break in Manchester for ages, to check out the Art Galleries & interesting tourist sites there, & decided on the Midland Hotel after reading the positive reviews.
This very grand 4* hotel is located right in the city centre, within walking distance of Piccadilly Station & close to the amazing Central Library & corresponding tram stop. The entrance foyer is incredibly opulent & the reception team were very welcoming & friendly.
The bedroom was tastefully decorated, with a very comfortable bed, large bathroom, tea & coffee making facilities & a well-stocked bar. The room was light & airy, air-conditioned & had a lovely Juliet Balcony.
All of the public areas were spacious & luxurious, with fascinating mementoes of the hotel's past on every wall – such a change from the usual massed-produced artwork!
A Continental Breakfast was included in the room rate, with the option to upgrade to a Full English Breakfast, if required. There was a plentiful supply of breads, croissants, fruit, meats & cheeses etc. & a choice of two areas to sit in to enjoy the food. The waiting team were all very friendly & helpful, even at the very busiest times.
If you want to really indulge yourself, the hotel also has a Health Club, Spa & two Restaurants run by the Chef Simon Rogan – The French & Mr Cooper's House & Garden. We didn't use these facilities this time but will definitely return in the future to treat ourselves to the delights of such a super hotel!
