I made reservations to have pre show dinner at the on site restaurant. You can chose from a set price menu which is a very reasonable £14.95 for 3 courses but a little limited, or they have more dishes on a a la carte menu. We chose from the set menu to give it a try. The decor is a bit spartan but comfortable enough & the staff are very pleasant & friendly. Between us we had pate, soup, spare ribs & chocolate orange sponge pudding. All very nice & well presented. The ribs weren't the most tender I've ever had but tender enough & tasty. The whole meal was very satisfying and good value for money & we'd do this again. Booking for the theatre is easy, on line booking & picking the tickets up in the foyer went without a hitch. It's a nice comfortable theatre with good views from everywhere, no annoying posts to avoid. We were seeing Betty Blue Eyes, a rather silly but amusing & enjoyable musical. There was some fine acting & great singing, plus the antics with the pig were laugh out loud funny. So all in all a good evening out & we're looking forward to our next outing to The Mercury. It's worth noting that there are stairs to access your seats & I didn't notice any lifts but I understand they have one, so check with the theatre direct if you have any mobility issues.
