We were reassured that this 4* star hotel on the prestigious East Cliff had been refurbished. Our room (1012) side sea facing still smelt of wallpaper paste- a good sign of redecoration – nicely decorated. The problem was that the bathroom door didn't have a lock – a hole for the lock BUT NO LOCK!Surely not a voyeurs room! The cold tap swivelled around and the bath tap was extremely stiff. The dining room staff were mainly young Spanish girls who were obviously training. Tables were not cleared. The menu was varied BUT AT 8.30pm we didn't expect some dishes to have run out – both evenings this happened. EVEN the after dinner mints had run out – we asked for a biscuit substitute and the waitress went to the sister hotel next door for some! The first evening we had cheese and biscuits included but strange thing on the second night – there was a charge for cheese and biscuits. But, saying that the food we had was delicious. In the bar the nibbles had also run out. It was clean, very comfortable, ideally situated but the provisions manager and maintenance need to get their act together.
