Reasons for trip

Marbella old town is a hidden gem, miles away from the televised glitz that may put some off. It is easy to access from the main bus/coach terminus, a 10-min downhill walk or 5-min taxi. Regular buses also drop off at Marbella town centre which is right at the lower end of the old town. A labyrinth of narrow historical streets lead past numerous shops, ice cream parlours, bars, restaurants and tapas bars, some more hidden than others. Also, there are the ruins of the old castle and a beautiful church well worth a visit. At the top end of the old town is a flamenco show bar/restaurant which great to see in a natural setting. On the east side of the old town is an authentic fish restaurant that fills up with local people, always a good sign. All in all a great place to visit for the day or stay in one of the lovely small hotels that are located within the old town for a great experience.
