A cafe I have visited numerous times in Regina is Magpies Kitchen. It is attached to the Crocus and Ivy store on south Albert Street and I usually tack on some shopping (kitchen ware to home decor to children’s and women’s clothing) before or after lunch. You can window shop while you eat if you sit at a table along the wall attached to Crocus and Ivy. The food is always fresh and homemade. Most recently I had a sweet potato soup with some focaccia followed by a latte and a slice of Hello Dolly bar which was a chocolate, caramel, coconut taste of delicious. It isn’t the cheapest place to eat in town but the food is consistently good and there is always something interesting on the menu.
On one of my visits, I arrived too early for lunch but was too hungry for a sweet pastry so they gave me (as in free, because it wasn’t fresh) a ham and cheese sandwich from the day before. Now that is service. Afterwards I bought a coffee and a lemon square.
Not open on Sundays or Mondays.
