Reasons for trip

Inside the 17th century building which was originally the Hotel Lantin, Jeanne and Maurice Magnin lived and collected mainly Italian and French paintings as well as drawings, objets d’art, furniture and sculptures. It is tucked away in a street near the Museum of Fine Arts in the Palais de Ducs. They gifted the house and the collection to France and their portraits are in the house, which is very much still a home as well as a museum.

A visit to the museum starts with rooms dedicated to the Schools of the North, with plenty of Italian art and French paintings including Parisian art of the 17th century.Furniture from Dijon is in the house and it is an original and engaging museum and worth a visit in historic Dijon alongside of course the Museum of Fine Art.
