Local friends had booked “Lucia”:https://www.luciawinebar.co.uk/lucia-york/ in York for lunch (there are also branches in nearby Harrogate and Beverley).
On arrival, the place seemed a massive outlet and taking up a huge amount of space off Grape Lane in the historic centre. There was distinctive flowery-ness everywhere – check out the menu and you’ll see what I mean.
There are various “menus”:https://www.luciawinebar.co.uk/menus/, but as we had a train to catch, and friends were on the grandchildren school run, we all opted for a main from the “lunch set menu”:https://www.luciawinebar.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/Lunch-Menu-WEB.pdf where mains were great value for £10. We all chose different options: a hand pressed beef burger, steak ciabatta, and a chicken breast stuffed with mozzarella and wrapped in prosciutto. I went for gnocchi with pulled pork, green beans, pesto, sundried tomato and what the menu described as a hint of chilli. Whilst I love chilli and this met my taste bud expectations, I could imagine it being a bit spicy for some.
Two of us shared a bottle of wine from a reasonable list that ranged from £20 to £50, whilst others had low alcohol beers. The bill came to £76, with an optional 10% service charge.
Service was efficient and it’s definitely somewhere we would think about returning to.
