Reasons for trip

Personal / family celebration

I took my lovely OH for lunch at Lower Slaughter Manor to celebrate his birthday. It was a beautiful day, and after being met by very attentive staff we decided to have drinks on the terrace. A glass of Prosecco accompanied by an appetiser was the perfect start to the meal. We were not rushed, and staff were happy to go at our pace, which was lovely as we were enjoying the sun so much. Lunch was served in the restaurant – which does lack a little atmosphere – it seems a little sparse after the cosy nature of the other rooms in the hotel. The food was absolutely incredible, small portions, but perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. Each course was explained to us by our waiter, and if we had any questions he was more than happy to answer us. My pudding was just amazing, i wish I could cook like that, or even better, if my OH could cook like that! After lunch we played croquet on the lawn and had coffee, along with a birthday surprise of fudge and sweet treats. A place for a special occasion rather than every day eating.

The prices were extremely reasonable, it was £25.50 for three courses, however the wine did bump the price up considerably.

After we had eaten we wandered around Lower Slaughter, it’s a gorgeous village – there were lots of artists painting there on the day we visited, and there was also an art exhibition, with probably the most unusual selection of paintings I have seen – ranging from landscapes and seascapes to the Teletubbies!
