From the moment we arrived at our cabin – Monty’s Retreat – the magic and relaxation began. Just what you need to celebrate your 68th birthday! The cabin was very cosy and inviting with breath-taking views over the lake. The hot tub is an added bonus. This was the first time either of us had set foot in a hot tub so it was very special. We spotted lots of birds and water fowl from the deck of the cabin which overlooks the lake. The cabin was very private and fully equipped with every utensil possible. There was also a washing machine and dishwasher which was great. The bed was very large and comfortable and the log fire was so inviting on the January evenings we were there. The 30 minute walk around the lake was gorgeous at all times of the day. Our dog, Lizzie, loved every minute. The boat was fun and we had a few early morning and evening rows where there were plenty of photo opportunities with glorious sunrises and sunsets. It’s a bit pricey but well worth it. I tried to book again, but they’re fully booked for our dates. Which isn’t surprising given everything I’ve said above. A truly wonderful experience.
