Liverpool Anglican Cathedral is quite simply one of the most impressive buildings you could ever visit – visible from several miles away, including from across the river atop Bidston Hill, Wirral, the cathedral imposes itself on the Liverpool skyline whilst seemingly keeping a watchful distance from the more famous buildings at the waterfront – serene, composed, the city’s permanent sandstone guardian. Inside, this magnificent edifice is even more impressive – at one time the largest enclosed space in Western Europe, its beauty is beyond compare, a jaw-dropping marvel of architectural brilliance and the view from the top of the tower is nothing short of awe-inspiring. Incidentally, there is an iconic red British telephone box inside the cathedral, both of which were designed by the same man, Giles Gilbert Scott. I just thought I should mention it, and if you get the chance, you should visit this building. Stunning.
