Littlecote House looked very festive with attractive Christmas decorations and lights and after a warm reception we were soon enjoying mulled wine and mince pies in the Great Hall, with a roaring log fire. It's a beautiful Grade 1 listed Tudor mansion and the third most haunted building in England set in many acres of gardens and parkland.

We were very pleased with our ground floor room. It was spacious, warm, comfortable, with a large bed, and modern bathroom and close to car parking which was a bonus. We had a quick walk around some of the grounds where there is a craft centre and in the courtyard, garden plants for sale. Also a shop inside, all most handy for present ideas.

Christmas came early this year and our first meal on "Christmas Eve" was excellent. The restaurant had a great atmosphere with attentive service and all the food was first class with a good menu choice. The daily carvery was particularly moreish. We then found a seat in the Late Lounge and the Littlecote Players entertained us . They were a very talented and versatile team. We enjoyed their musical theatre shows and particularly the Buddy Holly tribute on "New Year's Eve" There was a small dance band and singer and it was a great way to finish the day. A full programme of events was scheduled every day from strolls around the grounds visiting the ancient Roman mosaic and historic tours of the house, quizzes, afternoon cabaret and pantomime to name a few. One of the highlights was a visit from a local junior school acting the Nativity Play – the little ones sang their hearts out.

There are marvellous rooms to explore from the Great Hall, Chinese Room, Library ,Dutch Parlour, Haunted Landing and Bedroom and the Long Gallery and more! Also a small museum with exhibits of the US 101st Army inWW2. Then there is the smart Leisure Centre with heated pool, sauna and steam room and where beauty treatments can be booked.

We had a fantastic time at Littlecote House with hardly time to explore some of the local attractions. Bath Christmas Market was a popular day trip but we had already visited. Warner's is the place to go for a break which offers so many activities or on the other hand just relax and enjoy the fabulous environment they create.
