I was in Lisbon for a day, whilst on a cruise, so time was limited. I palled up with another lady and our first stop was the tourist office opposite where we’d docked. It was closed!! So, we decided to do a red bus city tour. Hop on and off. It passed the stop fully occupied. Others waiting and we were told it might be an hour or two before another so we got a blue bus. Waste of time. Went mainly along the coast road but due to heavy traffic took 2.5 hours rather than one. Lisbon was heaving. Three or four cruise ships in, a major football match in the city, plus extensive excavations resulting in road closures. The best parts were when we stopped off along the coast for a coffee and had a brief walk around after the tour bus had finished. We saw some lovely sights but all too briefly.
I think it would have been better to have got a taxi or normal bus to top of city and walked down.
A beautiful city and I’d like to think I’d plan it better if given another chance!
