Reasons for trip

I had heard of the huge Christmas market sometime ago and always said I would go. This year I took the plunge and attended. The market is huge, spread over the town centre it attracts huge crowds, I would liken the crowds to a football match, lines crawling past stalls, shoulder to shoulder and this extended across the whole town, there was a skating rink and ample toilets dotted around, food stalls were everywhere along with a small mix of craft stalls. The problem was the crowds, not really enjoyable as far too busy. If you are looking to capture that Christmas spirit, this isn't the place. We travelled by train, the train there never stopped as it was full before it got to our station, a coach was then put on, in Lincoln, by 2.30 the platforms had been closed off and people waiting for trains were corralled into fenced walk ways depending on where you wanted to go, then the inevitable rush for seats, no good for small children or those with limited mobility. Rather than Choirs, there were bands playing across the town centre, not very festive. It was well organised and well marshalled but I think it has become a victim of its own success.
