Tropea is an incredible Rustic Italian town on the knobbly toe of the foot of Southern Italy that clings to the rocks over looking the best beach in Italy. As you descend the windy path to the beach you land at Calypso Bar and restaurant. From the outside this beach bar looks rustic but it has the best staff, food and ambience – so much so that I have been drawn back over 20 times!As you laze the morning away over looking the crystal clear blue sea you see the fisherman arrive with the freshly landed swordfish, shrimp and shellfish. You see the baskets of incredible fungi mushrooms arrive and the strings of the Tropea red onions -so sweet you can eat them like a tomato. Lunch is a feast of simple but incredibly tasty food with the best views. All home cooked fresh to order by Florianna and her team. Worth flying to Italy just to visit this little bit of heaven .
