Liaise is a relatively recent addition to the restaurants in Newton Abbot, and was therefore thought to be worth a try by members of a local group to which my wife and I belong.
The evening didn’t get off to a good start, with the owner warning those of us who arrived first that although we had a restricted menu from which to choose, only a certain number of steaks (for example) were available. We sat for several minutes without any service, unable to order drinks, and eventually resorted to going to the bar ourselves.
The food, when it arrived, was reasonably good, but the service wasn’t very quick and it seemed as if they were unprepared for a group our size – yet we had booked several weeks in advance.
It’s a pity that a new venue wasn’t able to create a better impression on our fist visit. If you go somewhere new and are impressed, you are more likely to return. Unfortunately, we weren’t, and aren’t.
