My partner and I are not Bikers, we are Hikers which is how we came across this superb Mountain Bike Trail development. One Sunday we needed to get up there in the hills, fresh air and good views is what we had in mind. We got both! Once up on the heights after a good slog up the rough tracks up over the moors we were rewarded with excellent panoramic views over the Rossendale Valley below. Apart from a curious Black faced sheep checking us out from his perch on a high rock we were completely alone, but not for long! As we followed a track westwards we caught sight of our first Mountain Bike enthusiasts performing stunning stunts on the trials leading down into Lee Quarry. It was quite thrilling to watch these guys honing their skills on the fast challenging narrow trails with hair raising drops on either side of them! If you have any mountain bikers in your family then bring them here, they will not be disappointed! There are 8 Km of technical trails designed to help riders develop their skills and learn new ones! Constructed by Hynburn Business Terra Firma and designed by Daffyd Davis these trials deliver cutting edge routes. There are 5 Km of Red Trails with technical sections and over 2Km of challenging Black Trails and a skill development area with easier trails. Also an area for hosting Competitions and demonstrate events. As a bonus the site is free and open every day! Must be good, we heard of bikers travelling from Malaysia and Japan to experience Lee Quarry! Lee Quarry, Rushton Street can be accessed from Newchurch Rd (A681) between Bacup and Waterfoot. Nearest town is Bacup.
