This has to be my favourite cafe and pastry shop in Regina. If you are just driving through the city on your way to points east or west, it is worth dropping by for coffee or lunch. It is very close to the #1 Highway (just one block south) so very convenient to stop in on your way through.
Whether you want a cookie, a truffle, a muffin, a croissant, a Danish, a more elaborate slice of cake or a tart, or, a macaron, all of the cakes and pastries are displayed beautifully in glass cases to tempt even the most steadfast dieter. My most often go to is the lemon tart which is lovely and tangy or the chocolate mousse torte. Le Macaron has been open for a few years as a bakery with a coffee shop, but recently expanded to add a crepe station with breakfast, lunch and dessert crepes. My most recent visit was for lunch and I tried the crepe of the day which was a Mediterranean chicken crepe with spinach and it was delicious. It was served folded up in a cone-shape wrapped in paper and then cardboard which serve a dual purpose of protecting your hands from the heat of the crepe and keep the juices from dripping all over you. We saw many other crepes being served; some in cones and some on plates. The crepes are very fresh and crisp and you can watch them being made.
It is a very popular spot and it used to be difficult to find a seat, but they have more than doubled the seating area with their recent expansion. There are small cafe tables (tall and short), larger tables for large parties, and sofas and chairs in front of the fireplaces – one in each room.
