In July whilst in Cornwall, we made a day trip to this National Trust property. It is a Victorian Country Home and it was very much like walking around a Downton Abbey set! The house is incredible and I particularly liked the nursery with it’s fabulous doll’s house (after 3 grandsons I have finally given up on my wish for a grand daughter who I can buy a doll’s house for!) The rest of the house is also stunning and there are “fast facts” in all the rooms, these tell you more about the house and family. Listen for the maid singing in the servants quarters and see if you can smell the coal fire in the Smoking Room.
The grounds cover 900 acres and there are miles of footpaths. There is also a 10km purpose built off-road cycle trail which grades for all types of cyclists. The trails are free to use and you can even hire a cycle.
A lovely day out!
