Reasons for trip

I visited this restaurant last night with an aunt and uncle and had a delicious meal. The service was efficient and friendly and the atmosphere is very welcoming. The food is elegantly presented and, as the desserts are very good, we opted for the two course Table d’Hôte menu for £18.95 each. After rolls and dipping sauce on the table, two of us had the Duo of Lamb: “Slow cooked lamb, sat on a champ mash potato cake, garnished with mini lamb fritters, honey glazed carrots & a rich redcurrant, mint & port reduction” and one had Beer Battered Haddock with “mushy peas, tartare sauce, dressed pea shoots & bucket of chips.” The lamb was fork tender and the batter on the fish was very delicate and light. We all followed it up with White Chocolate & Ginger Cheesecake with poached apricot, and vanilla ice cream. The photos say it all.

The wine list is varied and good. We had a very nice Cuvee Jean-Paul Dry Red, the house red wine, at £16.95 a bottle which went well with the lamb.
