Reasons for trip

Hubby and I decided to have a self-catering break in Lancashire along with our dog Boris. We stayed for four nights in a pet-friendly caravan at Haven Marton Mere Holiday Village, Blackpool. The caravan was very clean, modern, centrally heated and had all the equipment we needed for our comfortable stay and was well situated close to the wildlife reserve. Check in wasn’t until 5pm due to extra cleaning procedures due to Covid so when we arrived in Blackpool we headed to Central Pier to have some lunch at one of the cafes followed by a nice walk up to the lovely, quieter North Pier.
The following morning (Tuesday) we drove to Fleetwood which is approx 30 minutes drive away from the Holiday Village. It was lovely to have a look around Fleetwood as it had been many years ago when last visited. The indoor market is well worth a look for a little retail therapy. We enjoyed delicious fish and chips from The Ferry Cafe (14, The Esplanade, Fleetwood FY7 6HF) which I would highly recommend.

Wednesday – We visited Lytham St Annes, approx. 25 minutes drive from the Holiday Village. Beautiful dry sunny day so we first of all headed for St Anne’s beach. Absolutely beautiful, the beach is so clean and there is an area on one side of St Anne’s pier which is dog friendly, so we were able to let Boris off his lead, so he could chase his ball, dig holes in the sand and have lots of fun. Afterwards it was good to sit having an ice cream and looking out to sea. We then went to Lytham town centre and had a look around there for a couple of hours. The town centre was very bustling it was good to see such a thriving, busy town centre and there were many shops and cafes open there.

Thursday – We visited the wonderful Stanley Park, it had been at least 40 years since we last visited. The park is still very well-kept, very vast and there are a lot of different activities available to do there including a BMX bike track, football facilities, tennis courts, etc. Canoeing was taking place on the lake the day we were there too. Afterwards one last trip into Blackpool North for a quick look around, something to eat then back to base again.

Friday – Headed home after an absolutely wonderful holiday. We enjoyed every moment and will definitely return again.
