Having never visited the Isle of Wight, my wife and I decided to make the most of a short break advertised by Secret Escapes – and we were not disappointed.
The Lakeside Park Hotel is situated a short drive from the ferry port at East Cowes, in a beautiful setting, as the name suggests, by a lake! It is a modern design with very comfortable 'executive' bedrooms. We were particularly impressed by the quality of the meals we ordered in the restaurant, and the helpfulness of the staff. The excellent hotel spa was an added bonus, with free access for guests to the pool, the sauna and steam rooms, and the jacuzzi. Treatments were available at reasonable cost, or as in our case, included in the cost of the break.
The location of the hotel is perfect for visiting the major attractions of the island. Queen Victoria's palace, Osborne House, is only minutes away, and we also visited Carisbrooke Castle near Newport – both visits well worthwhile. Being an island, the furthest point at the Needles is only around 30 minutes drive.
Overall we were very happy with our break, especially as we were able to book a reduced price deal through Secret Escapes. We notice that this hotel is frequently one of their regular offers and hope to repeat our trip at some point in the near future.
