Just 5 minutes from the M5 is Lakeside Caravan Park at Burnham-on-Sea. We had chosen here to take our youngest grandson for a week’s holiday this year. Lakeside is part of the Hoseasons Group and although we had not been here before we had been to their other site in Norfolk on many occasions in the past. This site is on level ground, beautifully maintained and has a superb range of luxury modern caravans all in excellent condition and equipped with all that is needed (apart from bed sheets which may be hired) to make the holiday a pleasurable one. On the park itself there is a walled sun terrace with a main pool and a smaller pool just for the toddlers, both in pristine condition and serviced on a regular timescale. For the fishermen there is a tree lined three acre private fishing lake (license required) well stocked with Tench, Perch, Roach and a few others that don't immediately spring to mind. The 'Boathouse' is a large family club that provides live entertainment throughout the summer season. The 'Sail Loft' is the dining area which we never used but the food did look good when we saw it being served up.

Lakeside also has a laundry room, amusement arcade and a shop/takeaway offering a good range of meals, snacks and light refreshments – newspapers are also available here after 10.30 am. Lakeside is an England 4 star rated holiday park and in my opinion its worth it, but, and there always has to be one or two, as it’s always said "Nothing is perfect". No ball games are allowed which is a pain when you have a youngster with a football, so it meant a visit to a public park. There are very few caravans with parking next to them, parking is not permitted on the grassed area's which is quite understandable when you have lawns like they have. Ok, so they are not big issues and hardly worth the mention, and we did have a good holiday and that’s what matters at the end of the day. Would we go again – yes, but not with young children who want to play ball games. Its back to Norfolk again for us next year – they have a 9 hole golf course on site too.
