Reasons for trip

There is good service from Dublin and commencing from Cork 2019 to Budapest. The local currency is the Forint approx. 320 to the euro. The Lake is approx. two hour drive from Budapest but both resorts are also on a rail route from Budapest near one of the Buda hill side train stations. The lake is one of Europe’s largest freshwater lakes and has several beach / lawn resorts with cycle lanes all along the sides. Balaton Fured is a modern resort town 4 star standard with water parks and plenty nice restaurants. There is Balaton Bob at the other side of the lake which is a bob sleigh on tracks over a Km hill side next to an adventure park. There is a water ski machine on the lake by Balaton Fured. Watch out for festivals in Budapest during August as the metro can be busy then. The food festivals in Balaton fured are good and plenty quality live bands/ music in the local town. The alternative is a cruise from Budapest to Bratislava and Vienna (wein).
