In early December 2014, we took a Shearings coach trip to 'The Christmas Markets and the Dolomites'. It was a long and very tiring trip from the north of England and we arrived at The Lady Maria hotel some 30 hours after first catching our bus, feeling tired, hungry, achy and stiff. Although we arrived earlier than expected we had a wonderful greeting and drink from Walter, the proprietor of the Lady Maria, and were soon settled in our beautiful rooms to find our luggage already there. Our room was a lovely size, beautifully decorated in traditional style and with wonderfully comfortable beds. Initial problems were swiftly handled by Walter and his lovely staff, and we found our room had a balcony with beautiful views of the village and hills beyond. Meals were typically Italian, beautifully prepared, and served by staff under Walter's attentive eye. Each evening we were told the following evening's menu and offered the chance to substitute an alternative choice if we wished . Each breakfast time we were met with a choice of fruit juice and a wonderful array of cereals, yoghurts, cold meats and pastries with endless cups of tea or coffee, from the attentive Walter. The hotel had a beautiful traditionally decorated lounge and dining room, lovely comfortable seating and polite attentive staff. Hard working Walter was present from breakfast to supper and served in the bar, as well as greeting guests, even boarding our bus on the final morning to thank us and wish us a safe journey and waving us off. This lovely gentleman is a perfect host, always accessible and always polite and attentive. We wish him well and hope to return soon.
