Dreaming of a get away holiday in a beautiful rustic environment high in the Cantabrian mountains in Northern Spain?

Doesn’t this sound just great as we are locked away with Covid 19? What’s more the Casa de las Chimeneas, Tudes are self catering so you can easily observe social distancing!

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights in October 2019 in the stunning valley of Cereceda. We had to drive up 700 metres to reach the apartments but once at the top you get breathtaking views of the Picos de Europa. I still have visions of waking up each morning with this incredible view from the window and the sound of birds, as well as the odd cockerel from down the road exercising his throat!

Friendly, local neighbours who still work the land and cattle and horses grazing on the hillside. Goats and sheep can be often seen, herded through the village.

The 8 apartments, (individual homes) were converted from a farm dwelling which the owners opened up in 2009. One has three bedrooms, 4 with two bedrooms and 3 with one bedroom.
They are decorated with medieval inspired paintings and artistic embellishments. There is a well equipped kitchen and the rooms are comfortable and warm. Outside are common areas with a social lounge and great infinity pool with views over the Picos.

You can amble around the village and it’s path leading on various walks or pop down to Potes which is only 10 minutes away where you can food shop, buy souvenirs or explore this important town of Liebana with its enchanting old bridge and meandering river. Restaurants are in abundance as well as bars.

It is only ten minutes from Potes, the most important town of Liebana full of restaurants, bars and many souvenir shops. On the outskirts of Potes on the N621 is a large, well stocked Lupa supermarket if you don’t want to travel into the town.

There are plenty of interesting places to visit in the area, known as a microclimate. It is home to the Iberian brown bear, ibex, wolf, wild boar and birds of prey. Abundant wild flowers can be found all around, growing on road verges as well as the valleys and mountainsides.

We had a wonderful stay and an experience we would love to revisit.
Hope I have whetted your appetites!
