The wonderfully colourful frescoes of the Kykkos Monastery in Cyprus will take your breath away. Biblical scenes adorn the walls, the flood, Moses, Adam and Eve, the slaughter of the innocents etc.
Please be aware that this is a holy place, therefore scanty clothing should not be worn. If you have been out sightseeing on a hot day though and have not brought anything suitable then a robe will be provided to cover up in.
The monastery is a wonderful place to visit, also nearby is the burial place of Archbishop Makarios which is also a must.
The souvenir shop holds religious items, some for prayer and some as talismans, not overpriced.
There is also a wine shop outside the monastery, I did not confirm whether the wine was made by the monks or not but it looked very tasty.
