Whilst enjoying our island hopping, using the Greek ferries, we were returning one day into the marina in Rhodes Town, when we spotted this amazing floating restaurant. It was made of glass and steel, and sat bobbing on the water! We thought we’d visit it, and check it out. It was called The Kontiki!
We walked into it, and it was truly beautiful. It had two floors, both with uninterrupted views over the marina, but also of the old town of Rhodes, the old city walls and castle. We had a cocktail upstairs, and sat admiring those amazing views. The drinks weren’t cheap, but we made them last!! THOSE VIEWS ,STUNNING!
The following evening, we decided this would be our choice to have evening meal. We decided to book the lower floor, and ask for a table next to the window (it was all made of glass, but the views over the old city were the best.) the staff were very friendly, and showed us our table with the stunning views. Being in the evening, the whole setting had changed. There were fairy lights , lighting up the marina, and the boats had their own lights onboard. The old city wall was floodlit too. It was all so beautiful.
The restaurant felt of a high standard, lovely cutlery and napkins. The menu wasn’t a huge choice, but I could see when the dishes appeared, the presentation was very good. We both had steaks. 16oz steaks! Served with salad, it was delicious.
The table next to us had seafood. Lobster, crab, prawns, scallops, everything you could imagine. It could have fed four people, there was so much food.
We’ve booked a return trip to Rhodes this October, so will definitely return to the Kontiki restaurant, and may even save up to have that amazing seafood dish. We’d have to make sure we were very hungry though!
