Kingston Lacy is a National Trust stately home set in the beautiful Dorset countryside. The house was designed in the style of a Venetian palace. The original owner travelled widely and brought back treasures and artefacts. There is a large collection of paintings, sculptures and bespoke furniture. It is all rather awe-inspiring. I suppose you could say, “Why bother travelling to exotoc places when you can see these amazing creations and masterpieces here in England?” You can look at Brueghel, Rubens, Titian, Murillo and Velazquez – defintely too many wonderful artists to list here. All beautifully cared for of course.
Outside there is the classic English garden, a Japanese tea house, woodlands plus parkland to explore – and there is even an ancient Egyptian obelisk! Before leaving we had tea and cakes in the Stables Cafe, browsed the shop and bought a couple of second hand books.
A day out to Kingston Lacy will not disappoint.
