Kings Park Hotel at Rutherglen is close enough to Glasgow city centre to give access to the city – by car or by bus – but includes on-site parking and breakfast in their price (which many city-centre hotels do not).

We’ve stayed here on a number of occasions over the years – most recently last night – and have always had a warm welcome at reception, and friendly service in the restaurant (which has good food and wine at reasonable prices).

Bedrooms are comfortable and clean – all fully en-suite with full-size bath and over-bath shower. Go for a ‘superior’ room for extra space and a wee settee (though the standard rooms are big enough as it is!).

Free WiFi throughout.

Have resisted reviewing the hotel in the past as it has been going through a gradual refurbishment programme.

The hotel runs occasional ‘theme’ nights in their large function suite – if you’re going to be there on one of those nights, best to join-in – the extra price usually means good entertainment and an inclusive meal and so, unless you are an early-bedder, might as well join the party!
