Reasons for trip

Had a lovely week here in late April, and this hotel has many good points to recommend it. It’s not adult only but it’s very geared to people wanting a quieter hotel. For example it had no entertainment and very few children when we were there it’s really not geared to them just one small paddling pool. In 2019 from May – October it will be a Tui only and adult only AI hotel – we don’t like Tui or AI particularly so unlikely to go then but we would rebook outside that period and it illustrates where it’s going ethos wise. Very helpful staff before and during stay from management who are very hands on, making sure all is well, to restaurant and domestic staff – all smiling and hard working with great service. We were on half board plus very much worth taking this option rather than half board saved a lot of money.

Warm welcome, welcome drink and fresh fruit / snack available and efficient portering most welcome after quite a long day of travel! ( but you’d be close to Paphos airport just day overall was a bit tiring).

Be aware that the newer and better standard rooms are set back from the main block but ad therefore even more peaceful! Very comfortable bed do soecify if you want a double – may be two large singles with a topper but actually this was fine in practice we discovered.

Balcony or terrace but position means only morning sun if in these newer blocks but plenty lovely places to sit and relax around main block with the comfiest sun loungers I have ever known! And no problem with ‘baggjng’ loungers thank goodness! Pool towels good quality.

There’s a very lovely library if you want to sit and relax inside away from the other nice but busier seating areas around the bar and restaurant, and comfy outdoor seating too.

Even the rooms that aren’t ‘apartments’ have a full size fridge with freezer compartment, 2 ring hob, kettle, toaster and coffee markers x2!

Lovely bathroom with huge bath, excellent multi-mode shower and 3 sinks!

Good air con and Wifi fine, occasionally but slow in evening but ok.

There is one adapted room – great – BUT to my surprise when asking about it even if you book that it is not guaranteed! That to me is a nonsense and one of the few negatives I would report. I know the challenges of juggling bookings but frankly if you book such a room it’s because you need it and I hope they review this policy!

General accessibly is quite good, ramps etc if you just prefer not to have to deal with lots of stairs but you need to book for one of the newer blocks – don’t book superior studio which is main block and no lifts unless you are ok with requesting a ground or low floor but I’d say contact them personally to ensure this,

Breakfast was excellent tons of choice and variety and eggs cooked to order. Lots of fresh fruit and varied breads etc and much more besides. You won’t be hungry or bored!

I was a bit disappointed to find it was the ‘international themed buffet’ style of evening meal – I would much rather have more food of the country I am visiting! But to be fair it was much superior to most buffet type hotel restaurants and I was always able to have a most enjoyable meal and there was a good level of genuine variety of dishes. Bit of an issue getting dry white wine but they tried hard to find us something we liked and it may have been a temporary supply blip.

Lunch was also available and of similar quality, also a snack menu which we didn’t use as it was all too bread based – that is something they could easily improve given that lunch service is going on anyway but you may just want a small lunchtime snack that’s not a sandwich/panini.

One other slightly disappointing thing was that they could not do cocktails that were not on the list – very odd – and no slimline tonic available which was a big annoying.

Several pools including two adult only and a small indoor spa type pool. Lovely but they were a bit chilly. One adult pool was slightly heated but not that much! Had to keep moving!. It was chilly even for me and I’m a bit hardy! I raised this before going ax lots of comments about it on reviews but manager said not an issue. Having now been I’d beg to differ and the low usage of pools says to me that the issue is self-evident! Maybe ok later in season but not sure!

The hotel is in a quiet residential about 12-15 mins walk from seafront area but there is a shuttle bus there with a couple of other stops too – taxis too tho bit pricey at €8 each way for the distance it is – seems to be an agreed flat fare for this and similar journeys.

Late spring is a lovely time to visit and we did two very good and reasonable small group (8max) Land Rover trips with Eco Tours – one included a boat trip too. They also were very considerate of my mobility limitations and tweaked the itenerary as much as possible to fit the interests of the group. Very good value for money.

And the archeological site in Paphos Ruth amazing mosaics is a must do – go first thing to avoid crowds and heat it’s torslly exposed site! Very cheap too – €4.50 and €2.70 if senior citizen!

This is a very good medium sized hotel with many many plus points, very suitable for those wanting a quieter base, and we would be happy to book again and explore more of Cyprus.
