Kielder Water is England's largest water reserve. It was created by deliberating submerging villages, farms and cottages. It was created to prevent water shortages, and has even be known to supply water to draught prone areas. The reserve is now a magnate for nature enthusiasts, cyclists, sailors and divers. The forest area is vast and beautiful. You can take cruises on the waters .. odd to imagine the submerged buildings below, though. There are plenty of places to stay over, with lots of cosy pubs to spend the evenings. It is a great day out or even for a longer break. With the dark skies and great observatory it is a lure for sky watchers, and is considered one of the best places for this activity in the UK, although, this is not one of my pursuits! I prefer to stroll through the forests and enjoy flora and forna.
