Reasons for trip

I decided to join the Historic Royal Palaces since the subscription seems a good deal.
One of the advantages was I was able to go on an evening tour of Kew Palace.
The tour took place last autumn, and the fact that it was dusk, made the interior of the palace even more atmospheric.

The evening started off with a glass of wine or juice and a few nibbles, in the small vegetable garden outside the palace. Apparently King George was a keen gardener.
You can reach Kew Gardens by train, nearest station Kew Gardens, or Kew.
I forget how much it cost, but no doubt there are details for 2017 on line.

I can recommend visiting this palace, even if you are not a member of Historic Royal Palaces, since the guide will give you an insight into the life the the royal family of King George III, with their numerous daughters, and the problem son, later the Prince Regent.

Kew Gardens is itself a wonderful place and walking down the Broad Walk is an ideal way to arrive at the palace.

The palace is closed until the spring 2017, so look at the website for opening details.
