This is a beautiful hotel if you want some peace and tranquility. It has beautiful pools and lounging areas including canopied beds on the private beach. The bedrooms were beautifully furnished, spacious bathroom with huge bath, double sinks and a nice shower. The downside of the bedrooms was there is no facilities for tea and coffee ie no kettle, cups, tea, coffee etc.
There is a very nice spa where you can have a swim, sauna and steam room. Unfortunately when you go into the steam and sauna area you are supposed to NOT wear bathing costumes ie naked!! We found this rather embarassing.
The breakfast was comprehensive, fresh, regularly replenished and beautifully displayed. The waiters and waitresses were very polite, efficient and well presented. Nothing was any trouble to them and they notified every table 5-10 minutes before they finished breakfast and removed the food.
The location of the hotel was very good for privacy but it was on the outskirts of Estapona and therefore you would need a car if you were immobile in any way. It was the easiest walk down to the town and would take 20-30 minutes for most. Puerto Banus is a lovely place to visit with a lovely harbour and expensive yachts to drool over, great shops and tempting restaurants. Gibraltar is about an hour’s drive from Estapona which is worth a day trip.
There are some really nice restaurants in Estapona which are frequented by the locals and are very cheap to eat and drink. The beautiful little streets are all decorated in different colours and there are nice little boutiques and gift shops which are very reasonably priced.
Overall staying at the Kempinski Hotel in Estapona gave me a different perspective of Spain and I would live to return next year.
