The Kempinski is located on the outskirts of Baku, away from the coast and main centre. The rooms are good and the air conditioning unit was the best I’ve encountered – kept a good temperature in the very hot August weather, but without intrusive noise. Complimentary water in the room, tea and coffee making facilities, a robe, and a laptop-sized room safe. Good, fully-tiled bathroom. All very clean and looking good-as-new. Free WiFi in all rooms. There’s a good ‘spa’ facility; and the buffet breakfast had a good selection of cold and hot dishes, of high quality. Chef on-hand to do your eggs 'as you like them'. I had a buffet dinner also on the evening of arrival – again good quality food with reasonable selection of dishes. Would be happy to come back here again – especially as my short (one night) visit as a guest of a client (hence being unable to ‘score’ pricing!) didn’t give me a chance to try the Azeri food in the Golden Cage; or the Waikiki Bar in the Spa!
