Walking

The Kasbah Du Toubkal is highly recommended. It is close to Marrakech and the hotel can organise quality airport transfers. The Kasbah really is a mountain retreat. The peace and quite is great and it feels very secluded. The Kasbah can only be reached by foot or mule and it is at 1800m, whilst that might sound a little worrying some people do ride up and the effort makes it worthwhile. The Berbers who run the hotel are extremely polite and helpful and they meet you in the viallage (Imlil) and escort you up to the Kasbah. In the Kasbah itself there are some beautiful gardens, a wonderful roof top terrace with fantastic views and a roof top conservatory with equally wonderful views. The roof top terrace is a real sun trap and is a wonderful place to enjoy a meal or simply read a book and enjoy, the peace and the clean mountain air. The rooms are very comfortable with little extras like shawls and Berber robes which can be worn around the Kasbah. They also provide fridges stocked with free soft drinks, tea, coffee, fruit and nuts in the room. The food was fresh and good. The evening meal was a set menu. As the Berbers don’t drink they don’t provide alcohol but you can take your own. The Kasbah can organise walking tours, cultural visits and ascents of Mt Toubkal. We climbed Mount Toubkal and they organised our trip perfectly with our own cook, porters and guide. A visit to the Kasbah Hammam was very welcome afterwards, followed by tea beside the roaring fire.
