Jury’s Inn Oxford is situated just off the motorway, approx. two miles from the city centre. We didn’t want to take the car into the city, so we picked up the bus directly outside the hotel which drops off right in the centre of town. Bus runs every 15 mins (C6) so ideal for getting about.
Our room was spacious and the bathroom had a bath (yay) as well as a shower. We did have a sink blockage which was fixed promptly. There was an unpleasant sewage smell in the corridor near our room, so this may be a common plumbing issue. The room didn’t smell.
Bed was comfy, wifi was good, plenty of hanging space. No complimentary water and no minibar. TV a bit on the small side. Window could be opened for fresh air.
The bar was OK, drinks normal hotel prices. Breakfast was odd – day one was congealed eggs, cold beans and bacon. Day two breakfast was hot, fresh and fine. Must have had different staff on.
We ate in the onsite Marco Pierre White one night which was excellent and had a great ambiance.
There’s a Costa coffee onsite and as we joined the loyalty scheme we had six free coffee vouchers.
There is a health club onsite which we didn’t use.
Oddly, there are two floors, but no lifts, so you would have to ask for a ground floor if you couldn’t manage stairs.
Overall, perfectly acceptable for a base to explore Oxford.
