It is always worth looking for Jury’s Inn hotel when visiting Cardiff, right in the centre of the city along the main shopping street from the Castle. It is a beautiful old building but, of course, inside it is modern, comfortable with fully-equipped rooms and generous bath towels – I love their toiletries when we are travelling around as it saves a little bit of packing. Reception staff are friendly and really helpful, as are the bar staff.
The bar and dining room have recently been refurbished with fresh, pale grey colours and plenty of space around tables encouraging a relaxed meal, drink and conversation. This was Prom time so on both nights we stayed, the hotel was hosting Prom Dances – wonderful to see the youngsters dressed up for the evening, probably struggling to recognize some of their classmates looking so smart! We were pleased to say this didn’t cause any problems for guests including noise levels.
We stayed for 2 nights, visiting the cinema on the first day (to see Ocean’s 8) and the New Theatre (Sherlock Holmes play the Final Curtain) again on Friday evening just across the road from the hotel. Very convenient after an early-evening dinner at Jury’s Inn, excellent food looking and tasting good. We will certainly visit again.
£63.20 room for 1 night.
