This was the last night for the restaurant as they were moving up the road to a new location the next day, but it still had a comfortable atmosphere. We had olives stuffed with dried tomatoes to share while we decided our order – great big fat olives, lovely taste and just £2.95.
As starters, we had crab cakes and salmon & crab parcels with a creamy sauce – both dishes delicious, especially with a bottle of Terra Forte Trebbiano Chardonnay white wine. We stayed with the fish and light meats for the main with baked hake on bed of red & yellow tomatoes and potatoes, with me going for chicken and mushroom in a creamy sauce with small new potatoes and vegetables. There was a definite taste of mushrooms, but a nice balance so not too overpowering. We were too full up for a pud.
It was all perfectly cooked, beautifully presented and friendly staff. The chef came out to say hello and ask if everything was OK, and to chat with locals about the move to new bigger premises. Prices were not too bad at £4.25 for starters, £11.95 for a main course, and £13.65 for the very nice wine.
