Reasons for trip

My husband and I visited the Oxford Street John Lewis store and while there called in at the coffee shop for our free hot drink and cake (well worth obtaining a card online for this!) I noticed an arrow pointing to their Roof Garden so we followed it upstairs and were delighted to come outside into a beautiful area overlooking Oxford Street. There were sofas and chairs of (artificial) grass and deckchairs on which people were relaxing and taking the sun. Plants were growing in beds and on the walls – amazing. Apparently it had only been opened a few days earlier, to celebrate the store's 150 years of trading.

As we made our way out and down the stairs a gentleman suggested we visit the exhibition on Floor 3 about the history of John Lewis. It was fascinating, with photos, documents, film and all manner of memorabilia about the Store during its 150 years of trading.

A very interesting couple of hours – and that was without buying anything!

So far as suitabiility for disabled guests, I am certain there are lifts to the various flopors, but doubt if there is one to the roof garden, though didn't actually notice at the time.
