Chosen by Viking Cruises as our base for our Beijing extension, its a luxurious and comfortable place to stay and explore the city. The hotel clearly has a strong relationship with Viking and our bags were taken ahead and already in our rooms by the time we arrived. Hotel staff boarded our coach as we arrived, gave us a brief explanation of the hotel facilities whilst handing out our room keys. A wonderful bit of customer service, they could have only made it easier by carrying us to the room.
The very comfortable and spacious rooms (we had 723) were well equipped with everything you could reasonably expect to find in your room. Unusual highlights were a bath as well as a separate shower cubicle, vanity kit including toothbrush and a smoke hood/mask in the unlikely event of a fire.
There were numerous dining options and bars, plus a health facility but we were out most of the time so only used the breakfast buffet. Huge buffet, there was a wide selection of hot and cold western and Asian style food. All very tasty and filling, do try the tea eggs (boiled eggs, boiled again in tea) a very interesting look and taste.
Staff are polite, friendly, very helpful and speak reasonable English.
