Timeline Events bring heritage and photography together to recreate scenes from a past era. I’m an amateur who loves taking photographs and these events are enjoyable because they give me an equal opportunity to capture the people and places that look so authentic.
Blists Hill in Ironbridge Gorge is a living museum with characters dressed in Victorian costume. These special events take place on a specified day. Re-enactors are employed and the photographers pay an extra fee for the privilege of exclusivity. The actors on this occasion were the Ragged Victorians and they included children who also entered into the spirit of the day.
The events are open to photographers of all levels, and there is excellent organistation and safety consideration throughout. I’m not fit enough anymore to carry round a heavy camera and just use my lightweight Panasonic Lumix, but I was still respected and was able to join in satisfactorily on the day. We have been to other Timeline events and will enrol on others in the future. I would recommend them to keen amateur photographers.
