Reasons for trip

Culture / Sightseeing

We found this place advertised in the Alberta accommodation guide. It gets few tourists and mainly caters for business travellers to the oil installations nearby. When I booked the owners were very concerned that I did realise Fort Edmonton was a small town with few attractions and 45 minute drive from Edmonton. I said that was one of the reasons we wanted to stop there. We didn’t want to stop in Edmonton and they were close to Elk Island National Park and the Ukrainian Heritage Village which we wanted to visit.

We stopped here for a total of four nights at the start and finish of a six week trip to Canada. It served our purpose well and we would recommend it to others.

There are two standard rooms and one superior room, the honeymoon suite. We had one of the standard rooms which was a reasonable size and had a comfortable bed. The bathroom was pleasant with a good shower and good supply of towels. Cleanliness and maintenance was excellent.

Breakfast is freshly cooked to order (placed the night before) and available from 0700 (before that self-serve continental). Residents have access to the breakfast room with fridge, microwave, kettle, crockery and cutlery if they wish to eat in during the evening. There is a good supermarket directly opposite.

There is also a residents’ lounge which has a selection of books and information about the area.

The proprietors are friendly, helpful and accommodating.

Parking is on-street on a very quiet service road. Wireless internet is available and fast. Within a few minutes walk there are pleasant parks and a collection of heritage buildings.

We enjoyed our stay here and fully recommend it.
