Not having had a holiday for seventeen years we booked a cruise to Rome, Pisa, Florence, Gibraltar, Lisbon, Malaga and Provence this year. However, this turned out to be good and not so good.
Our cabin, the food, service, trips, etc were amazing, but we felt the boat was much too large, with so many people, and it was always noisy. Didn’t know that when we booked. So we used to go on the top deck and find sunbeds, where it tended to be a little quieter. We had to pay quite a lot to use phone/internet access.
Although we received an information sheet of activities each morning, it turned out to be the same every day with hardly any variations.
I had a bad fall in the gym and still have bruised knees, which a few days later was followed by a water infection with me on tablets from the ship’s dr.
A couple of nights they had a special group on, but by the time we’d finished dinner it was fully seated and we were turned away.
When we went on the Rome trip a lunch was included, but the next day Michael had the runs.
However, to crown it all, on leaving, we decided to take our own luggage off the boat which meant we could leave at 5.30am and get a good start through any traffic on the way home, BUT when we reached the car park our battery was flat so we had to call the RAC and it cost us £94 for a new one, and gave us a delayed start.
So it was certainly memorable, and the trips were unforgettable.
