Another standard Ibis Hotel in a good position in the centre of Birmingham, behind the train station and new Grand Central mall a bit of a walk to get there. Unlike some of the other Ibis Hotels, this one is very close to the old part of the city centre and China Town, but also a late-opening Nightclub. This means it is potentially noisier than most, and all bedrooms actually have a set of earplugs for guests in case they are disturbed!
I was in a room at the front and although I was aware of some music noise, it was not enough to warrant the ear-plugs although I know from reviews that some people have found it more disturbing. Maybe it depends on which night of the week you are staying.
In any event, the staff were friendly and helpful at check-in and check-out, and the bar was comfortable serving drinks and food until late (as with other Ibis hotels). The Ibis Budget hotels are not quite so well-equipped, generally having a free coffee machine available in the lobby rather than tea and coffee-making facilities in the room, but this city-centre hotel is extremely good value at £45 room only. Worth it for a short stopover.
