Reasons for trip

We have been having a tough time with a lot of hospital visits, so we decided to go out for lunch a lot to cheer ourselves up. One of the places was at this lovely refurbished hotel now called the Humber Bridge Country hotel. It was formerly the Reeds hotel, sadly that got badly flooded and it had to close. New carpets and sofas and furnishings look warm and inviting in the lounge area where there is a log burner and a chance to have coffee and a snack, and even a private alcove to sit in with your dogs. The staff are friendly and will show you around if you ask. We went around to the main restaurant overlooking the lake with swans and other birds easily visible from the large windows. The carvery opens at twelve and you help yourself with assistance, to the different succulent meats and tasty vegetables. All are piping hot.The waitress will serve you with a drink and even carry your plate to the table if you are struggling for any reason. It was £9.95 I think, and it certainly tasted good.

Its a pleasant place for a walk if you feel like a bit of exercise, the area is attractive and has a large amount of nature reserves and of course there is the mighty Humber Bridge to admire nearby.

What I really liked was the tranquil atmosphere, it wasn`t teeming with people and you felt like you could talk privately and at ease. On the way in I saw the kingfisher flitting across the path and also on the way out he said goodbye to us. Take your binoculars!
