Reasons for trip

This small gallery is newly opened, in the attractive location of Granary Square, not far from Kings Cross Station, London. The displays of illustrations changes frequently. It is bright and welcoming, and at present there is a display of the work of my favorite book illustrator, Quentin Blake. His books, such as 'Matilda' are well known and children in particular will love this show. It is on until 2 November 2014. Have a look at their website for more information about the shows http://www.houseofillustration.org.uk/home I paid £5 entry fee, as a 'concession'. Not sure of the full price but not much. Another exhibition here which I will not miss is of Paula Rego, it starts on 14 November 2014 until 22 March 2015. The gallery is open Tuesday to Sunday, 10am to 6pm. It is easy to find, just turn right as you come out of the main concourse of Kings Cross station. Follow the paved road, with a display of panels showing other illustrators' works, on your right. Granary Square is near here, where there are several fountains set in the pavement, the little kind that children love running through. Also here are a couple of smart cafes and restaurants, and a row of small stalls, selling quick snacks at lunchtime. There is no cafe in the House of Illustration. At the edge of the square is the Regent's Canal, very lovely. You can walk along the towpath, which I think leads to Camden Town.
