My wife Kath and I had a lovely week at the “Hound Dog hotel” at the end of May 2013. We would like to share our experience with you.

“The Hound Dog Hotel”:http://hounddogblackpool.co.uk/ is located in central Blackpool, about 80 yards from the Golden mile promenade and approximately 250 yards from the Central Pier. The Proprietors Phil and Julie have a no Stag or Hen party group’s policy, so the Hotel caters mainly for Couples, Families, and Seniors. Most of the rooms are En Suite, although I believe that they do have a couple of rooms with shared facilities, so potential guests should discuss this when booking. There is also a good size family room so if you fancy taking your Grandchildren you could ask about this. Kath and I have stayed with Phil and Julie many times. However in the past we have mainly gone on a festive break. Either Christmas or New Year Which are terrific party packages and consequently book up very early. (We booked in January for next New Year) We have stayed in most of the rooms over the years . Our room this visit was room 2 scrupulously clean and Bright, with a double and single bed, hot drinks facility, TV and nice bathroom with shower.

We booked on a Bed and Breakfast basis but Julie is happy to provide a nice evening meal for a small extra charge. Breakfast served at about 9 o’clock, consisted of a wide choice of Cereals, fruit juice, and preserves. Choice of hot drinks followed by a freshly cooked breakfast with anything from a choice of seven or eight items “The full Monty” or anything in between. Plus of course a generous serving of fresh Toast. The Lounge area is really nice, with a lovely seating area and some very interesting “Titanic memorabilia” which I found fascinating. Every time we entered the lounge Julie would be there to offer us a hot drink and a chat, whilst Phil is a mine of information about Blackpool and many other things. I almost forgot to mention that Phil took all our bags up to our room on arrival and brought them down to our Taxi upon departure. All in all, a very pleasant experience which we shall definitely repeat. The By Line of the Hotel is “Arrive as guests, Leave as friends” Phil and the Brilliant Julie certainly do their best to make that happen. It did for us.
