We have just returned to UK from a 2 night stay at the Residence Agnes where we were more than well cared for. All staff were helpful and pleasant and speak English and the owner is also clearly visible engaging with guests in a very warm manner (even driving us up to the castle himself) . The hotel is an intimate size situated in a quiet part of the Old Town (near the Jewish Quarter). They do not serve any meals other than Breakfast but were happy to recommend and book a variety of local restaurants. The breakfast had something for all tastes – meats and cheese; fresh fruit, yoghurt and cereals; pastries and toast; bacon, sausage, eggs, beans; and all were constantly replenished. Our air conditioned room was comfortable with a 6 foot wide bed, mini bar and powerful shower. There was no kettle in the room but reception staff happily rustled up teas and coffees whenever we asked. The weather in Prague was very wet so we made full use of the hotel umbrellas. They arranged for our taxi to the airport which arrived and cost exactly as agreed.
I wouldn't hesitate to visit Agnes again and highly recommend it for those people who like the smaller, quieter hotel with the more personal touch. I believe this owner has only had the hotel in 2012 and is obviously making a real effort so if you come across earlier bad reviews they are down to the old management and are best ignored!
Our room was on the top floor (attic) – rooms begin with number 4. There is a lift to the first two floors but for the attic there are then some stairs which means cases have to be carried. If the male owner is on site then he is happy to help but if carrying a case or managing stairs is an issue then you may wish to make this clear when booking.
